Song - Frou Frou, I Need A Hero

  • Artist name: Ava Alexis.
  • Indie pop artist
  • Appeals to white females.
  • Genre: Indie Pop
  • Image and Identity represented with the images below

Treatment:
We would open with a split screen where you see the superheroes and the girl, Ava Alexis. The screen would be split into four sections. A row at the bottowm with three sections and then a bigger screen at the top of this. This screen would feature Ava in a pink dress, stripy socks and lots of accessories, walking towards the bridge. As the third doododadum starts the screen would zoom in and fill the whole space. We would see Ava approaching the bridge and sitting on it. She then starts to sing the first verse, we would shoot this using a mixture of CU's and MLS's. Then when the chorus starts the scene changes into long shots of the first superhero. This would be Wonderwoman. She would be trying to get through a crowd of people who refuse to move. So using her superhuman strength and her lasso she would move them out the way and run forward in search of her love. Then we go back to the shot of Ava on the bridge but she is now no longer sitting but walking from one end of the bridge to the other with the camera tracking backwards. Then at the start of the next chorus we would have the next superhero; Supergirl. She would have x-ray vision and be looking through a wall to see if her love is on the other side. She sees someone who looks like Ava, and immediately runs after her at superhuman speed but discovers it isn’t her. When the song changes tempo and pace and Ava starts to speak the third verse we would see her standing holding on to the bridge saying the words. As the second section of the words starts we would have a split screen again where we would have Batwoman as the main screen on top and along the bottom would be Ava’s lips from different perspectives. Then the next chorus would feature 3 sections across the screen in rows where would see each superhero running towards Ava from different directions and perspectives. Then with the last chorus they all reach Ava on the bridge but she suddenly disappears as she’s a figment of their imagination!! Then we reveal their identities and we see that they are all Ava!!! Brilliant!!

Audience:
Our core target audience would be primarily be teenage girls with a secondary audience of teenage boys. Our tertiary audience could be anyone who liked the original version of the song or the film Shrek.
The core audience would see themselves as cool and different from everyone else. They would see themselves as "rebellious" and breaking away from the mould. The females would be into going to gigs, something we could use to market our artist (eg handing out flyers outside low key club gigs or street teams, even getting her to perform at low budget gigs). They are usually fans of independantly preduced media, often moving away from mainstream and have a huge knowledge of music. Indie girls are usually quite arty and creative as well as being very skinny. Conventionally this type of music appeals to white teenage boys and girls but as this artist is black we hope to broaden our appeal and encourage other ethnicities to get into this music.

They have quite a distinctive style which contains a lot of clothing you would see on anyone, but together it creates an individual style as they combine it with lots of different accessories. Popular items include skinny jeans, gold jewellery, scruffy ballet pumps or scuffed boots and band t-shirts. Their hair is generally messy with a lot of layers, a longish fringe and is often dyed with bright colours. Their make up is usually minimal excluding their eyse which feature dark heavy eyeliner and their nails have chipped nail varnish.

Our male audience is much like indie girls. They are generally skinny with a fringe, messy hair and are sometimes quite shy. They express themselves through their clothing which usually comprises of battered Converses, plain t-shirts and skinny jeans. Their social habits are usually the same as that of the girls.

Our audience consumes their music on-the-go. They use their phones, iPods and mp3 players to listen to music wherever they go. they also frequently go to live gigs, usually in small venues to see (sometimes) underground bands. They use music as a way of expressing themselves and as a means to creating relationships with others. It also provides the pleasure of going to a live gig or discovering a new band who you can share with friends.
Music to our audience acts as an escape for them. They want to be able to relate to the lyrics and the message the artist is offering. It is also an opportunity for them to escape from the everyday realities they face. They gain pleasure from their music by using it as a means of expression about their feelings and attitudes towards life.
